CGB-GEA-E. Samuel James MOLBY, b. Sept. 9, 1844 (Sam.6, Chester 5, Jonathan 4, Sam.3, Sam.2, Wm.1). m. June 10, 1876, Adelia H. MOLONY, b. Dec. 1, 1851, near Boltonville, Wis. Her father, Henry Molony, and her mother, Maria Powell, were natives of County Clare, Ireland. They came to Rochester, N.Y., in the year 1830. In 1868, her parents took a homestead near Washington, Kansas. Mr. Molby d. at Baldwin, Ks., May 10, 1921. Mrs. Molby d. at Baldwin, Ks., Jan. 10, 1933. They owned Samuel (6) Molby's family Bible with the records of the family written by Samuel (6) Molby. This Bible is in the possession of Fred A Molby, of Baldwin, Kansas (1955). * See p. "Kind Friend: The enclosed letter carefully read and in reply will say that I have left the matter with my son who lives in Bloomington, Ind. He will try to secure the information you ask for, at which will take time. If he sends it to me I will forward it to you at once, as for me, why I am not interested until your search connects me with a Lord Molby that came from Scotland and brought a Coat of Arms. This Coat of Arms was in existence since I can remember. (I never saw it). It was held in the family of my Grandfather's Brother, who lived in the town of Van Buren, Onondaga County, New York. Was destroyed by fire about 1870. Not much thought was placed on family records. Each head of a family seemed to keep a record of his own family and rested there. My children have done some better, they have fairly good records back to my grand- father Chester Molby and they are interested in tracing the line back to the original Scotchman, and will do what they can to assist you in per- fecting your Genealogy. Samuel Molby of the 2nd generation in America was the executor of his fathers will, hence such a keepsake might have come to him. This Samuel died in the year that Jonathan 1751 was born and he was likely at home when his father Samuel (3) died at Northford, Conn. It was quite possible that he got the Coat of Arms which was said to have had on it the heads of three cows, which would be in keeping with the Maltby Coat of Arms.
An obituary of Mr. Molby appeared in the Baldwin, Ks., paper, and an obiturary notice appeared in the Baldwinsville Gazette, of Baldwins- ville, N.Y. At the time of his death, he had one living brother, Martin Edward Molby, of Reading, Michigan. Burial was at Baldwin, Kan.
